Writer. Performer. Educator.

At 3, I took my rag doll, walked into our family dining room, where my grandparents and parents were eating, and staged my first public performance: “You’re a bad, bad baby,” I scolded my doll and tossed it across the room, bowed, and exited.

At 9, my mother wrote down, “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country,” for me to practice typing on an antique Smith Corona.

At 12, I felt the first depths of depression pull me far below the surface.

At 13, I found solace and community in speech, writing, and theatre.

I’ve continued to perform, write for my life—in English classes, high school speech team and theatre, graduate school courses and shows, and community theatre.

I’ve continued to write, write to bring forth life to cultural and social issues through narratives, song, poetry.

I’ve continued to educate and inspire.

In the rest of the time I have left here on earth, I will continue the journey: to perform, write, educate, and inspire for my life, for others’ lives.

We are truly all in this together. I’m just a minor part trying–hoping to make an impact.
